Small Tool Fabrication?

I need a few 8mm/5/16" offset wrenches (maybe there’s a better term) like that in the photo that I can add to something like a Wera 1/4" hex torque screwdriver handle.

These wouldn’t have to be super finely crafted but tight, sleek & clean would be a real benefit as they’re supposed to be inserted amongst a lot of closely spaced cable connectors.

Any ideas how to find someone who can do that? Any volunteers? Thanks for your attention…

I’ve seen this - but don’t know if they come in smaller sizes:

I looked some more - and the JTC 4757 set seems like the only ones that they make.
How about a small crowfoot:

or how about this:

I’ve thought of that too, not sure at this point that these would give enough clearance, but it’s good since it’s off the shelf; if push comes to shove, yes, I’ll try these.

And I also found these plastic torque wrenches too, I like these and think we’ll get at least one to try it out.

One of the issues, besides clearance, is that these connectors max at 5 in-lbs of torque (which I read that the plastic tool is available in that value). Part of the goal of finding someone to make a refined tool is to get is slim & clean so it’ll fit into every situation. The little crows foot and this plastic wrench are good finds, thanks, and all we’ve got to go on so far.

Here is another link to look at - but prices seem high

Good catch, that’s what I’m looking for. You’re right about costs - fabbing a few to stick on a torque screwdriver handle would likely be a lot less money than a few of these specialized tools.

It’s the wrench part that needs to be made and, for a few inch-pounds, sure doesn’t have to be a big burly finely-machined thing. Something I imagine a simple job for someone equipped for it.

I would suggest just using a 1/4in drive torque wrench and just mill the wrench sizes you want. I would make them out of tool steel or just take and do a heat treat with an oil quench. that should be strong enough for what it sounds like you are doing. you could make it out of flat bar and then put any bends you wanted into the shape before heat treatment.

Nice idea to make your own out of some bar stock - or maybe you could grind a clearance slot onto a 5/16 deep socket - if you want a project - but trying out one of those $25 with shipping wrenches might also be the way to start.

I just found the perfect things from Wiha - their Torque Cable Key blades.

I’ve already got a lot of Wiha tools and I’ve always liked their stuff a lot. I can put this blade with a specific handle and be in business for about $90.

The 1/4 extension and crows foot is nice but just way too big to fit into what I’ll be working on. These Wiha parts can’t be better!
