I left my royobi drill on my workbench with the battery in the drill. The drill was sitting up right and sometime later I went to use my drill. The trigger would not work and I found the handle had melted from the inside out.
There was a recall for the blue ryobi drills in 2010 , not sure about model numbers. Contact Ryobi Customer Service for instructions of what to do.
